The uncomprehension/incomprehension debate is silly, because the word is used in dialogue. The incorrectness therefore displays a mistake by the character, even if it is caused by a mistake by the author.

I just had to look up the plot synopsis (turns out I was confusing this with “Holes” for some reason).. I think there’s only a tenuous connection here, and maybe an unfair one, HOWEVER it sounds to me like the actual story is even stupider than the premise going on here.

I loved “Ender’s Game,” and thought “Speaker for the Dead” was even better.

Dug the hell out of the Alvin Maker series too…I’m kinda annoyed that he’s writing another book in that series, since the ending of “The Crystal City” seemed kinda perfect to me.

Card always seems to take things at least one book too far.

In a strange change of reading interests, my wife, who turns the big six-oh this year, had stopped reading horror and whodunnits and is making her way through my Sci Fi / Fantasy library. She is currently reading the Ender series and has read her way to Xenophobe.

Of course she wants to talk about them so I have to grab the books when she sets them down and do a quick Cliff Notes scan so I can discuss, as I have not read them in decades.

I don’t know if I’ll ever read Ender’s Game again, but if I do I’ll be thinking of this strip.

@Greg, I liked his early stuff but the “Homecoming Saga” sucked ass, and I stopped reading his books thereafter. I wonder if he ever got over his thing about brothers. In the Ender books and the Alvin the Maker books and the “Homecoming Saga” the protagonist has an eeevil brother – in the HS he has two!
