I originally wrote this one around a picture of a completely different jack-in-the-box, but decided it didn’t look creepy enough.  Fortunately, my clip art collection, despite containing entirely too many computers with CRT monitors, is fairly robust in its freaky toy offerings, and thus this nightmare fuel.  Why are they always clowns?  Don’t answer that.

Today is my Dad’s birthday, and I’d like to take this moment to thank him for never buying me a jack-in-the-box that looked like this.  He did, however, buy a computer and, rather than shooing me away from it, started me programming on it at a very young age, which did nothing to stop me from becoming a wussy little nerd – a skill set I am now using to feed my family.  Thanks, Dad.

MRS. SHOEBOX’S ASSESSMENT OF TODAY’S STRIP:  It’s “psychotic break” not “psychotic breakdown.”  Should I know that?  (I fixed it.)
