This is a strip about a sunset, and about meaning. It’s the last PartiallyClips of 2009 and probably the last PartiallyClips I am going to write for a while. Possibly ever.

The strip will continue with a new writer, someone I think has the chops to carry it forward from here. Watch this space for more details.

It’s been an amazing 8 years, but my head and my heart are not with PartiallyClips any more. I have to apply myself to the work I think has the greater meaning, because really, I’m no aspiring nihilist.

There seems to be a lot of Faceless Suit clip art.  This is at least the third such one I have used, but “they” tell me it will be the last.

I have no idea if this punch works or not.  It’s kind of dumb but I think the delivery carries a laugh.  But this is one of those clips I have struggled with in multiple different weeks and I’m happy to put it to bed finally.

This came out of a conversation with my friend David Zimet, about writing PartiallyClips.  I told him I throw out a dozen jokes every strip, stuff that comes off the top of my head but is too stupid to use.  He wanted an example, and I came up with the core of this joke.  I forget what we were using as the idea for the picture.

Since that day, David has insisted several times that the joke is good enough to use.  I didn’t think so, but in the process of failing to write to several clips this week, I thought about it again and reworked it from scratch.  It’s still a dumb joke, but at least this version has enough fun little misdirects and stuff that it comes out pretty decent.  

Or David was right all along, but that’s unthinkable.

…and I still like BIGGO BEWBS.  Like a Rose Bowl Float!  Woo!

Once again, this one came out of an IM conversation with my friend Sora.  We talk all of once a month, but somehow she gives me these straight lines and concepts to riff on.  A good percentage of the time I think “I could make a strip based on that idea.”

This art originally had the Venus/feminine symbol on the ample bosom of this figure.  That could have been worked in great with the concept, but the thing looked more like the Nabisco logo than anything else, so I took it out.

I originally wrote this strip as a piece of microfiction for Thaumatrope, but they’re only taking serials right now, so I reworked it as a strip.

This is one where I wrote the joke (as a comment on someone’s Facebook) and then decided to adapt it to a strip.  I found this art in the “caricatures” section of my clip art collection, with a bunch of faces from the 30s through about 1980, so it is almost certainly supposed to be some celebrity.  I can’t figure out who, though.  I don’t think Phyllis Diller, but maybe.  

But she just looks like a morph between Tricia Helfer’s BSG character and a My Little Pony.  Weird, but I’ll take it.

Amazingly, I never created a strip called “Architects” before.
