Been hanging on to this one for a bit because I thought was a bit too much in the same vein as another strip I did a few months back. It’s seasonally-appropriate because the dude’s hand over the chisel looks like a carrot, which is what bunnies eat. I mock, but it’s still better than anything I could’ve drawn (see exhibit A from 1998.)
MRS. SHOEBOX’S ASSESSMENT OF TODAY’S STRIP: Nice.

Hehehe, I laughed.. I laughed like ‘hehehe’
The idea of the thing being already inside the stone is funny.. because what if you sculpt something smaller than it should have been? too late now. If it’s too big though you didn’t free the whole thing..
I’m not letting it out. I’m pretty sure god put it in there for a reason.
How do you even chisel tears? For some reason, THAT is the part that sort of has me stymied.
Interesting choice of dialog for this artwork. Still, I can’t help but feel an opportunity was missed, given the time of year it was published, and this clip art seems as close to any to fit the description “Jewish carpenter” as any I have seen…
In my mind, this man will be forever known as Sal, the guy who ended up taking on the family business when his older brother Joshua went off to be a professional hippy.
It’s funny. But, don’t believe everything artists say.
