Giant condoms last week, the photo industry this week. We strive for variety here at PartiallyClips.
There’s lots I could say about the inspiration for this strip, but basically it comes down to the fact that I live in Rochester, NY, the land of Kodak, and the subject was bound to come up sooner or later.
MRS. SHOEBOX’S ASSESSMENT OF TODAY’S STRIP: *chuckling* That’s very strange.

Something was bugging me about the picture, then I realized that the viewfinder is in front of his nose. So now I wonder, is this a cyclops using the camera?
The camera needs a flash cube on top. You know, to go with that 70s hair.
It sort of looks like a 3D Camera, with the implication (I guess) that you look through two lenses like binoculars. If so, that might be the most realistic clip art I’ve ever seen on this site. 70′s hairdo not withstanding.
I worked 31 years in film manufacturing at Kodak Park. Got downsized a year ago. You nailed it.
Think that’s a girl, you guys. Perfectly acceptable haircut, for a girl/female/whatever.
Actually I think it’s an old Kodak model, though I have no idea what model — probably a late-80s mid-range autofocus model. (Is it sad that I know enough to at least speculate about that? Probably.)
Sadly, there’s very good reasons film has become a niche. The environmental impact is a big one — i’ve heard that at one point, silver contamination from photofinishing was a major problem in some big cities, especially NYC — as well as having more control over the workflow because the results aren’t dependent on chemistry and you can see the picture almost immediately. It’s been a disaster for the photo industry, but that’s the nature of disruptive technologies. Still a goddamn shame about Kodachrome though…
You mean the Paul Simon song, right? Yeah, that turkey is borderline criminal.
