I think “Cyber Monday” is quaint, a leftover from an idyllic time when newscasters were trying hard to be important sounding about the web when they really didn’t understand it. That along with “Information Superhighway.”

The fact that the rabbit symbolism predates Easter was actually one of my initial possible directions for the strip – an argument between the waitress and the rabbit-person on this very subject, ending abruptly with the hospital-across-the-street reveal. I eventually opted to tighten up the dialog, but I still threw in the “resurrected messiah” line because I liked the idea of an asylum escapee in a bunny suit saying it.

Alverant- you are completely correct. Bunnies, like most other “Easter” symbols, are actually spring fertility symbols. On the other hand, not as many people know that as ought to, and this guy has two strikes against him cause he’s sun screaming insane, so really for him the rabbit can be pretty much whatever the sun screams at him that is.

Actually the rabbit was a symbol for spring-time rebirth long before the resurrected messiah story. Same is true for chicks and eggs.

I like this one a lot. Particularly the idea that in the fight between making the sun stop screaming and peanut butter pie, the peanut butter pie wins.

Not that I usually see them coming, but sometimes the beating around the bushes go on for long enough that I can figure out that things are not the way they’re portrayed.
