It’s been two months since our last visit to the magically-unnecessary land of Clipartica, so I figured it was time to return. Plus that’s really the only way my brain would go with this piece. Once I realized that the dots on the female diner’s chest were pupils in an angry face (and not just random chest-apostrophes as I’d originally thought,) there was no chance of me taking this strip in any other direction. For those who love the art-mockery strips, enjoy. For those who hate them, there will be a non-art-mockery strip going up this Friday.
My lovely wife gets co-writing credit on this one for pointing out the bread loaves and suggesting the muppet’s hunchback father.

In other news, I’m currently finishing up the new Worm Quartet album (taking pre-orders later this month if all goes well) and gearing up to help man my wife’s table for her next craft fair – Manic Metals will be representing at the 41st annual Holiday Bazaar Arts & Crafts Show, happening at the Rochester Museum and Science Center this weekend, if any of you live in the Rochester, NY area and feel like checking it out.

Now that the pointless unnecessary crap is out of the way, I laughed out loud.
I’m normally ambivalent towards these kind of strips, but this one just had so many good, obvious jokes that it worked.
So I’ve been doing some catching up and I was wondering what happened to the twice a week format? Just busy?

As soon as I saw the word “Clipartica” I stopped reading and looked at the picture first, trying to spot all the things you would make fun of. I saw three people with goofy hair, and you mentioned two specifically and one round-about with the muppet reference. I saw the nipples, but for some reason it still took me a minute to get “staring with her shirt.” I missed the empty vessels, and also wrongly predicted you would make fun of the muppet’s shoes, and the table, which looks like a tree stump on a tripod.
Gotta say, “random chest apostrophe” is now my favorite nipple euphemism.

Eh, Clipartica isn’t Clipartica without the mysterious ice floe beneath. These people are just floating in space. Clearly.
I’m with Jorpho on that. This is like when they film something in Toronto, but call it Washington D.C. Everyone knows that Clipartica comprises thousands of little ice islands.
See what makes these great is you don’t just mock the art, you point out several bizarre details that are sort of hard to notice, that make it impossible to take the picture seriously anymore..
Whilst I dislike these “make fun of the awful clipart” strips on principle, this one actually made me chuckle. Well done. I think the strips have been getting funnier lately.
