Okay, I’ve managed to mix in some math humor and some programming humor, and people haven’t fled the strip screaming…so let’s see if I can pull off a Mechanical Engineering joke.
I only had to take a couple of ME courses in my pursuit of an EE degree, but I remember being amazed that for Statics I basically spent an entire semester analyzing why crap stayed put. I felt the entire class was just a buildup for its sequel, Dynamics.
MRS. SHOEBOX’S ASSESSMENT OF TODAY’S STRIP: Oh…I thought that said “statistics.” I was wondering what the hell you were talking about.
(Note that this assessment prompted me to change the unseen presumably-significant other’s final line from “But that’s a statics book” to the more verbose final product.)
See you next week!

I first read it as “the vector in this epic battle”. I guess I am a physics geek at heart.
I read “vector” and “statistics”… even though you repeated it, it didn’t help me any. Sigh.
I read both words correctly and my coworkers wondered WTH I was laughing so hard about. After reading the comic most of them still do. Must of had to be there to think its funny. 8^)
Thanks!
I switched to computer science when I realized that dynamics was just like statics, except now every variable was an integral.
Yeah, I almost did that too. I struggled with both statics and dynamics.

HA! I’m a big fan of geeky humor in general, but this was really great.
Those of us with softer science degrees appreciate the additional verbiage.
I still read it ‘statistics’. Your attempts are futile!
Yep, “stastistics”; just goes to show how much we actually see words as patterns.
