Man at Computer

Watching my son being born was amazing.  Watching him learn to walk was amazing.  Watching him learn to read and write has been amazing.  Watching him get better at video games has been downright frightening.  I figure he’ll be handing my ass to me in Mario Kart within a month or so, and I’m hoping my ego is sufficient to allow me to be proud of him.

My Dad, who I beat regularly at Pac-Man back in the day, thinks this is hysterical.

This strip is inspired by a Twitter conversation with a friend of mine who’s going through a very similar phase with his kids.

Ha! Good one! Of course this is especially funny to me, as I remember seeing this conversation on twitter. :-) I never got to beat my dad as we didn’t have video games then, but my nephew has been kicking my ass at games for years now.

Personally, I would go with Discordianism; it’s the only religion I can think of that a five year old might actually like.

Man.. I wonder if my kid’ll ever be able to beat me at videogames.. I mean, I’ve picked up games I haven’t played since I was a kid and I’m a billion times better despite having less practice.. so I assumed kids were naturally inferior.. but it seems parents automatically suck somehow..

Huh. You’ve used this picture before. Last time he was talking to a man who was psychic.

…Has this been used before? I did an archive search but didn’t see anything. Which strip was it?

Gah. I told Rob this day would come.

It’s called Stock Broker and it’s from August 12, 2005. It’s a good one too, so I recognized it.

Mario Kart. Helping parents shape children’s religious views since 1992!
