I think this is a sphinx. Might be a manticore but the clip said sphinx. This bit of dialog sprung from trying to write a longer, more complicated strip. It was the bit that struck me as funny, however dumb.

Manticores usually don’t have wings. I assumed it was a sphinx (one of the female ones that aren’t well-endowed with furless… chests). It coule even just be an angel with funny-looking fists, but considering the guy in the robe and sandals, I’d go with sphinx.
