Usually I run through what I think are obvious premises for a joke, and throw them out.  In this case, the “food as spokesmen for food” joke, which has been done many times, would not be dropped.  So I ran with it.  I love the expressions on the faces here.  I wish I had come up with a name for the apple.  Shout out to Kiki, who was in the #dementia IRC channel and helped me find the word “collude,” which I could not recall for the life of me.
