I often just go randomly “researching” by just sloppy searches and links, trying to free-associate my way to a funny concept. I did a lot of that with chimpanzees for this one, but it didn’t lead to anything. Sitting there with the clip and thinking about the subject’s relationship to the scientists got me to this fairly basic nerd joke, but I think it works with the setup and the art.

Actually it’s a good psychological joke. There’s a recognizable subtext about asserting common sense over experimentation.
