Puppet And Flower

I had a real dilemma with this one. I couldn’t decide if it was better with black censor bars on the swear words or not.

At one point I thought, “It’s about the same either way” and I was going to do the censor bars, solely for the reason that the newspaper editors would probably be more comfortable running it that way. I was fully aware of the irony.

But I set it aside and looked at it fresh and decided that it was better with the real words. As far as the newspapers are concerned, I will be immediately going back to 2 strips a week, so I can fall back on the old answer of “Don’t like one? Run the other one.”

I’ve had this on my desk (cut out from the East Bay Express) for 3 years now, and I still refer to it. Brilliant!

Actually, there ARE certain intervals composers can’t use, most notably the tritone, which has been explicitly prohibited for over 1000 years.

Additionally, there are of course the 19 forbidden notes of the Boîte Diabolique, which may not even be played in isolation, let alone as part of an interval.
