Here’s the bookend to the previous strip’s father/son dynamic.
I tried a lot of different approaches with this one. There was a point at which I had the guy calling the action of a battle like a sports commentator, trying to fit as many flips of fortune as I could in there. I thought about a gender role reversal joke in which he was an imprisoned beautiful prince awaiting rescue by a brave princess.
It ended up with him being mentally a child for no obvious reason, it just turned out kind of goofily funny that way. It got me to a punchline, even if that’s essentially “go play in traffic, kid, ya bother me.”
