I really will do anything to fight my way out of a writers’ block.  Not only is dialogue like this way outside my usual style, I kind of feel like it’s written in the style of a lot of other webcomics…too many to name.

But I was sitting in a Bob Evans’ restaurant, gnawing on some fine comfort food, when I noticed how incredibly goofy this knight’s head is.  From that point on, it was impossible to take the clip seriously.

I played with the idea that he actually had a second head on the opposite side, which always faced away.  It could have been funny but the graphical obstacles to laying that kind of thing out were just too much.  I was sure nobody would understand which head was talking.

That this guy was “horny” was such a bloody obvious joke that the only possible way to use it was as the premise of the joke, not the punchline.  Sexual tension between these two characters was also the obvious way to go…the dialogue itself doesn’t feel very natural…yeah, I have a lot of problems with this one.

But.  It passes the “laugh test” for me.  It made me laugh when I thought of it, and so it makes the cut.  That’s not a perfect metric, but it’s been pretty useful so far.
