I guess I shouldn’t be mocking dead guys for trying to understand really complex stuff like time. And McTaggart was writing about time before relativity. Still. Come on.
Anyway, I don’t know how funny this is or isn’t. But if the joke fails, you won’t see me arguing against the existence of humor itself. I know damn well; that’s also relative to the observer.

The idea is, he’s going on about McTaggart’s writings on the non-existence of time, then time is what suddenly forces him to cut it short. Kind of a subtle re-direct of the irony.
Yeah, probably a little too subtle, though.
As a philosophy major, I found this hilarious. I don’t know if that makes the joke better or worse, but you had me from “McTaggart.”
I think it’s still pretty funny that an auctioneer is exploring such a rarified subject rather than following the usual drill, and that he suddenly switches back at “What?”
