First artist?  Or first satirist?

When I was writing this at first, it was a lot longer.  Had a lot more verbiage about “entertainment” vs “art,” which is a subject I’m forced to spend a lot of time thinking about (and talking about on panels).  I like to think of myself as an entertainer, or at least, acknowledge that as my overwhelming priority in writing.  But I don’t know.  There’s definitely some truth-seeking in what I do.

I trimmed it down, following a joke-writer’s instinct as old as charcoal and ochre on a cave wall.
