This beautiful guest art is the work of Shannon Henry, one of the three creators of Blue Crash Kit, the wonderful anthropomorphic superhero comic which is rightfully building up an enthusiastic following. Shan worked under an absolutely ridiculously short deadline and saved my jewels earlier this week as I scrambled to get at least two strips out to the papers this week. I’m still trying to get to three and catch up, but less than two is totally going to lose me some papers. Please express my gratitude to Team BCK by logging some time in their archives (which is its own reward, really).
I wrote this strip in an attempt to break writer’s block by riffing with Chris Battey of Scatterplot (contributor of the penguin-suit art in the previous strip) on AIM. I was going to do this elaborate improv game I had thought of, involving the random-page feature of Wikipedia, but then he went and mentioned he’s using Wikipedia to study for Jeopardy tryouts and the script spontaneously formed.
I think it’s going to be related to an upcoming strip, maybe Sunday’s. I’ve sworn not to serialize again, but there are some unique circumstances I’ll explain when it posts. It won’t be the only rule that gets bent/broken. O_o
*EDIT – Crap, in loading this I noticed I didn’t change the credit in the copyright line. I will fix that tonight, so that it’s a permanent part of the archives. Sorry Rob, Cat & Shan!
