This is the third year that I have tried to do something with this clip, and I would not let myself off the hook with it this time.  It seems like an easy one to develop a joke for, but it’s just a tar pit of cliches.  The hardest thing to avoid was setting the woman up as an object of ridicule.  I’m always looking for a way to defy the reader’s expectations, and with this Britney Spears lookalike, the natural expectation is that she’s a bimbo.

Trying to imagine someone who looks like this and is dressed like this NOT being a bimbo is a difficult leap.  I had to compromise.  I came up with a phrase I thought was funny, “the noble bimbo,” and tried to work toward that.

I don’t know how funny the final result strip was, but I’m really glad not to have to face this clip next year.
