A friend recently pointed out to me that the strips I write don’t often fall into inter-generational mudslinging. He said that had become a staple of some mainstream daily strips. I hadn’t noticed that trend, but he’s right.
Well, this one’s not precisely mudslinging; it’s just some private grumbling rather than an open feud. But the poles of tension are mainly between generations within one family. When that happens, I guess I do prefer to have the older characters have a better grasp on the situation. Older people can be as foolish as anyone, but I think in most cases we do get wiser as we go on…less hip to culture and more hip to fundamental humanity.
Or maybe I’d just like to think that.

As someone who’s turning 30 in a few years, I hope so.
