Originally when I wrote this one, she was just going do be in supportive agreement while he went off on an increasingly weird diatribe, and then just tell him “You’re reaching.”  But he really does look like he’s on the edge of a breakdown.  The density gag was a throwaway.  As my physics professor once told the class, “Density is a concept you all have an intuitive feeling for.”  Same to you, buddy.
