I wasn’t completely sure about giving the mom character a funny line in the last panel, because we’re not really supposed to like her. However, for a mere three-panel strip with no recurring characters, I do try to make them as three-dimensional as possible. It’s frightening when we hear things like 55% of Americans don’t know that the Earth goes around the Sun once a year. You can maybe get a glimpse into why the mom is like that, without losing sympathy for the girl.

And yes, I probably overanalyze this stuff.
