Sometimes I write a strip with a gag in mind, and other times I just write dialog by starting with a balloon that establishes tension. This is the best example of a strip like that. I almost couldn’t write this one, because that opening question is so dark it’s hard to pull out of the dive. But it ended up as one of my favorites.
