The Japanese phrase was originally “SANBAI-OTAKU”, which I was told is wrong, and that it should be OTAKU-SANBAI if I want it to mean loosely, “three times a geek.” OTAKU is getting some acceptance in American geek-slang. Just knowing the word (Japanese for a person who is way too into some indoor activity, usually anime or video games) at this time almost certainly makes you one.

I think this strip is too wordy and it’s a difficult read. I also had to explain to a friend in Ireland what “Shortstop” is. For anyone else reading in a non-baseball-playing country, it’s a tricky “skill” position in the infield.
